This Department is an administrative and technical unit of the University, and its role therefore differs from that of an academic department in which students study. At Al-Mamoun University, this Department is the technical backbone connecting the administrative and academic functions of the University.
1. Position within the Administrative Structure
The Department normally reports directly to the Office of the President or to the Assistant to the President for Administrative Affairs. This direct reporting line gives the Department authority over all other departments on technical matters.
2. Units and Divisions within the Department
To deliver technology services across the University, the Department is normally organized into several specialist units:
▪ Networks and Communications Division: responsible for installing and managing the wireless network (Wi-Fi) and the internal network (intranet) that connects the University’s departments to one another.
▪ Systems and Software Division: manages the University’s official website and develops its business systems (such as the online registration system and the human resources system).
▪ E-Learning Unit: supports the University’s learning platforms (such as Google Classroom or Moodle) and provides training for faculty members in their use.
▪ Maintenance and Technical Support Division: responsible for maintaining computers, printers and security cameras across the campus.

From an administrative point of view, students contact the Department when:

▪ Experiencing problems with the e-learning platforms.
