Vision, mission and objectives

Vision

Geography is a spatial science that uses description, analysis, and reasoning as basic materials for understanding spatial relationships in the distribution of geographical phenomena, whether human or natural. It is also concerned with the student’s history of his current world in terms of distribution and variation of geographical phenomena.

Mission

The basic mission of the Geography Department consists of three pillars

1.

Community service: Consolidating relations with state departments that benefit from our specialization by providing basic and applied research.

2.

Scientific research: Activating scientific research through the participation of faculty members and students in conducting geographical research.

3. The educational process: Providing an excellent educational environment for students, strengthening them in their fields of study, and arming them with knowledge

Objectives

The student in preliminary studies must be fully aware of the natural and human characteristics of Iraq, the Arab world, and the world
Qualifying the student in using scientific research methods and techniques in geographical studies
Developing the student’s scientific skills in the field of drawing and reading maps and aerial and satellite images
Directing the student in a scientific direction based on the fact that understanding any geographical phenomenon requires analysis, interpretation, and research.
