About this facility
The medical laboratories hold long work benches carrying binocular light microscopes in numbers sufficient for a student group, together with laboratory stools, preparation areas and cabinets for samples and materials. A glazed room separates the preparation area from the working floor.
The safety rules posted on the laboratory walls are applied inside it: laboratory coats are worn, smoking is prohibited, and instruments are switched off once an experiment is finished.
These laboratories serve the practical half of the medical and health technology departments, among them medical laboratory techniques, anaesthesia techniques, radiology techniques and pathological analysis sciences.
Its role
The practical half of a medical programme cannot be taught by description: a student learns to use a microscope, prepare a slide and read a result by doing it, and the laboratory is the only place that allows it.
