Under the patronage of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, ground-breaking memoranda of understanding were concluded in London, bringing together the Iraqi public and private sectors with their British counterparts across various fields, serving Iraq's interests. Attended by high-ranking Iraqi officials including the two Deputy Prime Ministers, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of Oil, the signing ceremony took place on Wednesday, 15 January 2025.
Among the agreements, and for the first time in scientific cooperation, a pioneering memorandum of understanding was signed in the educational sector between Al-Mamoun University College and SOAS University of London (School of Oriental and African Studies). This agreement paves the way for the exchange of delegations and joint cooperation, making Al-Mamoun the first Iraqi private university to establish a comprehensive economic and academic partnership with a prestigious British university.
