Al-Mamoun University’s Department of Continuing Education and Scientific Development held an academic symposium on the social stigma facing unemployed graduates. The symposium, titled “Social Stigma and Its Negative Effects on Unemployed Graduates, and Ways to Mitigate Them,” took place under the auspices of University President Abdulrahman Hameed Majeed. The event began at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2026, in the University Library Hall. Professor Safaa Hamid Turki, head of the Department of Clinical Psychology, spoke at the symposium.

It examined the psychological and social effects of the stigma that unemployed graduates face, including how it undermines their self-confidence and social standing. The symposium also discussed effective approaches and solutions for reducing the stigma, building a culture of community support and inclusion, and empowering graduates.

This symposium is part of Al-Mamoun University’s efforts to highlight important social issues, promote scientific understanding and mental health awareness, and strengthen its academic and humanitarian role in serving the community.
