Dr. Jihad Al-Shammari of Al-Mamoun University has published a paper in Letters in Biomathematics, a first-quartile (Q1) journal indexed in Scopus. The paper is titled “Integrated Network Pharmacology and Survival Analysis Reveals HLA Polymorphisms as Drivers of H. pylori-Associated Gastric Cancer: Evidence from Iraqi Population and TCGA-STAD Validation.”
The study examines genetic polymorphisms in the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) region, the human major histocompatibility complex, and their association with gastric cancer linked to the bacterium Helicobacter pylori. It combines genetic and computational analyses with survival analysis and draws on global data to validate the findings.
The work highlights the genetic and immunological aspects of gastric cancer. It also opens new avenues for research on molecular markers that could eventually help develop methods for risk assessment and early diagnosis.
